Birth Choice Statement of Faith and Ministry

  1. BIRTH CHOICE is an outreach ministry of Jesus Christ through His church. Therefore, embodied in its volunteers, Birth Choice is committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord, both in word and deed to women with crisis pregnancies.All those who labor as Birth Choice volunteers, staff members, or board members are expected to know Christ as their Savior and Lord.
  2. BIRTH CHOICE believes in the inspiration and authority of only the Bible. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe as interpreted and applied by our governing Board. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible Word of God and is final authority concerning morality and conduct of mankind. We believe in the total efficiency of the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary’s cross for the redemption of all mankind. We believe in the virgin birth, bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit who co-exists in unity, equality and power.
  3. BIRTH CHOICE is committed to providing its clients with accurate and complete information about prenatal development, adoption and abortion.
  4. BIRTH CHOICE is committed to assisting women to carry to term by providing emotional support and practical assistance. Through the provision of God’s people and the community at large, women may face the future with hope and plan constructively for themselves and their babies.
  5. BIRTH CHOICE never advises, provides, or refers for abortion or abortifacients.
  6. BIRTH CHOICE offers assistance free of charge at all times.
  7. BIRTH CHOICE never discriminates in providing services because of the race, creed, color, national origin, age, or marital status of its clients.
  8. BIRTH CHOICE is committed to creating awareness within the local community of the needs of pregnant women and of the fact that abortion only compounds the problems of a crisis pregnancy rather than solving them.
  9. BIRTH CHOICE does not engage in contraceptive counseling or in referring for contraceptive services. (Married women seeking contraceptive information should be urged to seek counsel, along with their husbands, from their pastor and/or physician.)
  10. BIRTH CHOICE recognizes the validity of adoption as one alternative to abortion, but is not biased toward adoption when compared with the other life-saving alternatives. This clinic is independent of adoption agencies, relating to them in the same manner as to other helpful referral sources. We receive no payments of any kind from these agencies, do not enter into contractual relationships with them, and do not share combined office space. Adoption agencies are not established under the auspices of this clinic. We do not initiate or facilitate independent adoptions.
  11. BIRTH CHOICE believes that the term “marriage” has only one meaning and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Holy Scripture.We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography or any attempt to change one’s gender, or disagreement with one’s biological gender, is sinful and offensive to God.(Gen. 1:26-27, 2:18-25; Ex. 20-14, 16, 22:18; Lev. 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16;Deut. 22:5; Matt. 15:16-20, 19:4-6, 9; Rom. 1:26-31; I Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20;Phil. 2:14-16; Heb. 13:4; I Tim. 1:8-11; Jude 7) We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the purposes and mission of our organization, and to provide a biblical role model to the clients we serve and members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the organization in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, should abide by and agree to this Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Holy Scripture nor the mission of this organization.

 

The Principles of Being a Volunteer and Staff Member

Below are the essential principles that all volunteers, staff members, and board members must adhere to and follow. If at any time these principles cannot be followed, the volunteer, staff member, or board member will be asked to remove him or herself from the ministry. 
  
1. A commitment to the Sanctity of human life in all situations.
Abortion is never seen as an answer to any difficult or troubling situation. This stand includes rape, incest or suspected fetal deformity.  Ending a life never reverses a situation or provides an end to suffering, long term.  The only answer is to allow God to be God in every situation, for He is all knowing and all-powerful.
 
2. A commitment to focus upon the woman.
For sincere change to occur, the woman and her needs must be the focus of primary concern. She is the only one who can save her baby from abortion.  If the baby is the focus, the woman can feel pressured, not understood, overlooked or non-supported. The result can be frustration and the mother feeling pushed toward abortion, simply for self-preservation.

3. A commitment to confidentiality.
Client confidentiality must be protected at all times. Names, identifying information and situation details must be avoided in all oral or written communication. The only exceptions include the following, and they must be reported only to the proper authorities by the suspecting volunteer or staff member. Exceptions: homicide, suicide or child abuse.
 
4. A commitment to Biblical values.
All that we do must be based and founded upon Holy Scripture.  The Bible, and not culture, is our final authority.  Throughout Holy Scripture it is evident that God is absolutely pro-life.  Our values and actions, including affiliations with individuals, organizations, etc., must be in agreement with Biblical principles. These values and actions include: conflict management, counseling directions, and interpersonal interactions. They also include pro-life activism.  For that reason, involvement with or support of pro-abortion political candidates or pro-abortion political parties presents a conflict with a commitment to Biblical values. Support of a candidate of any political party who is funded by abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood presents a direct conflict with our commitment to Biblical values and our commitment to uphold the sanctity of human life.
